01 — Co-Founder
Hi, I’m MJ, Co-Founder of SMJ Hair Extensions.
Hair extensions have been a part of my life since I was 16 years old. Over the last 21 years, I’ve worn them in almost every installation method imaginable. They’ve helped me feel confident through every stage of life, which is why they have always been so much more than just hair to me.
More recently, I was diagnosed with alopecia, making my connection to hair extensions even more personal. I know what it feels like to watch your hair change, to lose confidence, and to simply want to feel like yourself again. Hair isn’t just about appearance—it’s about identity, confidence, and how you show up in the world.
Throughout the years, I’ve tried countless extension brands—everything from well-known luxury companies to smaller manufacturers. Some looked beautiful at first but didn’t last, while others simply weren’t worth the price. After decades of experience, I knew exactly what quality should look and feel like.
I’ve also been installing extensions since my early twenties, and nothing compares to watching a client’s confidence completely transform. Whether it’s someone with naturally fine hair wanting more fullness, someone whose hair won’t grow past a certain length, a new mom experiencing postpartum hair loss, someone recovering from illness or medication-related hair loss, or a woman simply wanting to feel like the best version of herself again, those moments are why I love what I do.
When Storm and I started talking about creating our own extension line, we agreed on one thing immediately: incredible hair shouldn’t come with an outrageous price tag.
Our goal has never been to maximize profit. We created SMJ Hair Extensions so stylists can confidently offer premium-quality hair to their clients without forcing them to spend thousands of dollars. We believe luxury hair should be accessible, consistent, and something both stylists and clients can truly rely on.
02 — Co-Founder
Hi, I’m Storm, Co-Founder of SMJ Hair Extensions.
Becoming a hairstylist wasn’t something everyone believed I could do. Early on, I was told I wasn’t talented enough, that I wouldn’t build a successful career, and that I should lower my expectations.
Instead of letting those words define me, I chose to let them motivate me.
Over the past several years, I’ve dedicated myself to becoming the stylist my clients deserve. Every class, every late night, every challenge, and every client who trusted me has shaped not only my career but the person I am today.
As I built my business, I quickly realized that hair extensions were never just about creating longer or fuller hair.
They were about restoring confidence.
I’ve worked with women experiencing thinning hair, postpartum hair loss, hormonal changes, damage from previous services, and clients recovering from surgeries. I’ve seen firsthand how emotional hair loss can be and how deeply it affects the way someone sees themselves.
There’s something incredibly special about watching a client look in the mirror after their transformation and seeing them smile in a way they haven’t in years. Those moments reminded me that what we do behind the chair is so much bigger than hair.
Like MJ, I became frustrated with an industry that often charged luxury prices while delivering inconsistent quality. Too often, stylists and clients were left paying more for hair that didn’t meet expectations.
That’s when we decided to create SMJ Hair Extensions.
We wanted to build a brand created by stylists, for stylists. Hair that is soft, full from root to end, long-lasting, consistent, and priced fairly enough that salons can offer beautiful transformations without passing unreasonable costs onto their clients.

We’ve spent years testing products, learning what works, and understanding exactly what stylists need from the hair they install every day.
Every decision we make is rooted in real salon experience, real client feedback, and a genuine passion for helping women feel beautiful again.
To us, SMJ Hair Extensions represents more than luxury hair.
It represents confidence.
